We were looking for the best feature-length movies and short films from around the world that had ear-catching sound design and original scores. We also had a category with awards for original music scores including those not produced for a feature or short. We accepted features over 40 minutes, short films under 40 minutes and scores of any length. Films and Scores could’ve been produced at any time, from any country and we had no premiere policy (including online). Categories for feature-length movies and shorts are: Narrative Fiction, Animation, Documentary and Student.

Jury Award for Best Film

Awarded to the feature that exhibited excellence in the fields of direction, writing, performance, cinematography, technical execution and use of sound design and music.

Best Sound Design

Awarded to the feature that exhibited exceptional and innovative use of sound. Judges marked against several criteria, including creation and use of sound effects, ambience and dialogue.

Best Combined Use of Sound & Music

Awarded to the feature that exhibited an exceptional relationship between sound design, editing and score. Judges considered the synergy between effects, atmosphere, music and the dynamic between audio and picture.

Best Sound Editing

Awarded to the feature that demonstrated exceptional craft in the field of sound editing. Judges marked against criteria including aesthetic, composition and impact.

Awarded to features that had exceptional and original music composition. Judges marked against several criteria, including arrangement, production quality, emotional significance, synergy to picture and originality.

Best Original Score not for a picture

Awarded to composers for music not created for or used in finished films, the chance to present their cues to the jury who considered the arrangement, production quality, emotional significance and originality.
